Lt Frank Drebin is again on the case. Paramount Footage is transferring forward with a long-gestating remake of Bare Gun, the studio introduced on Wednesday (Feb 28). Liam Neeson will star because the bumbling police detective Debin within the function made well-known by Leslie Nielsen.
Akiva Schaffer (Sizzling Rod, Pop Star: By no means Cease Stopping) will direct the movie, set for launch in July 2025. The script is by Dan Gregor, Doug Man and Schaffer, who collaborated on 2022’s Chip ‘N Dale: Rescue Rangers.
The Bare Gun movies, derived from the TV collection Police Squad!, have been high-water marks for slapstick comedy. They ran over six years: The Bare Gun: From the Recordsdata of Police Squad (1988), The Bare Gun 2 1/2: The Odor of Worry (1991) and Bare Gun 33 1/3: The Last Insult (1994).
Nielsen died in 2010 on the age of 84. Earlier than taking part in Lt Drebin, Nielsen had been largely a dramatic actor.
